LIE and LSE in the Model A Format
Model A organizes a type into a unified structure and serves as the final product. It is primarily a tool for verifying results rather than gathering information: first determine rationality/irrationality, sensing/intuition, etc., then double-check.
Suppose Rationality and Logic have been identified; the program function is therefore logical.
Next establish whether it is Dynamic or Static. Dynamic Te (Extraverted Logic) is Linear-Assertive and expressed in action: constant engagement with practical activity (“who is doing what, who has which tasks”), a Businesslike communication style.
We can also check ourselves through Extraversion/Introversion. An extra-rational strategy involves activity and influence, whereas an intro-rational strategy involves organization and resistance to external influence.
Next, we look at the creative function: it will be either negative Sensing or positive intuition. The person either stresses thrift, purposeful resource use, and concrete benefit (from walks to cooking), or discusses promising projects, current investment opportunities, and where money can be made. This yields one of two types: the Logical-Sensing or Logical-Intuitive extraverted rational (LSE or LIE).
Both are Emotive livewires—LIE adventurous, LSE pragmatic—and both handle relationships poorly. The LIE seeks the unique and non-standard, hoping for someone who can ground their restless searching; the LSE approaches relationships with heavy seriousness (dating implies marriage and therefore requires a reliably chosen partner).
Different things will worry them. The LIE frets about physical aging—slowing reactions, bodily wear, wrinkles, sagging. The LSE frets about the need to settle and secure boundaries: whether enough has been earned for safety and comfort.
Self-esteem is displayed differently. The LIE (activating Se) advertises extreme fearlessness (parachuting, high-speed racing, invulnerability). The LSE (activating Ne) advertises specialized knowledge and an interestingly unusual profession (e.g., food technologist/baker).
Their taboo function is essentially the same: a rigid, fact-oriented insistence on clear roles, fixed order, and the sufficiency of knowing the main points and how to profit from them. Failure is attributed to personal deficiency; situational differences or deeper understanding are dismissed. The LSE version is more Aristocratic and tradition-bound (husband works, wife raises children; “if we go skiing, everyone skis”), making expansion of worldview especially difficult.
Their background (controlling) functions differ. The LIE minimizes uncertainty, stressing that risks are low and profit high. The LSE minimizes material loss, stressing reliability, stability, and proven methods.
This is the general baseline; nuances of course exist and would require far more space.
