Information Elements in Socionics
Information Elements are the eight fundamental modes through which information is perceived, organized, and evaluated in Socionics:
Se · Si · Ne · Ni · Te · Ti · Fe · Fi
They describe different kinds of information—not different kinds of people. A person can encounter and use all eight kinds of information; Socionics is concerned with how these elements are differentiated, prioritized, and combined.
The Framework Behind the Eight Elements
Aspectonics: The Seven Attributes of Information
The eight Information Elements are not unrelated categories. They can be described through seven binary attributes of information. Rather than asking how a personality type uses information, they ask: "What properties can information itself have?
The Eight Information Elements
Sensing
Se — Extraverted Sensing
Force, boundaries, position, and physical presence. Se perceives reality as a field of tangible forces: who occupies space, where a boundary lies, and how much pressure a position can withstand.
Si — Introverted Sensing
Physical experience and environmental conditions. Si perceives the state of the body and environment and tracks whether that configuration remains sustainable.
Intuition
Ne — Extraverted Intuition
Possibility, potential, alternatives, and the field of what something could become.
Ni — Introverted Intuition
Time, trajectory, development, consequences, and the unfolding of processes.
Logic
Te — Extraverted Logic
External activity, practical methods, efficiency, productivity, and measurable results.
Ti — Introverted Logic
Structure, definitions, conceptual relationships, rules, categories, and internal consistency.
Ethics
Fe — Extraverted Ethics
Emotional expression, social atmosphere, emotional intensity, and the changing climate between people.
Fi — Introverted Ethics
The quality, distance, structure, and significance of relationships between individuals.
