Anna M. (SEI) about Dressing for the Weather

Freedom is important—freedom of choice in everything, even in something like what to wear. Sometimes parents say, “But you’ll be cold in that!” But someone like me knows very well what will make me cold and what won’t. When I dressed the way my mom told me to, I was always too hot. But when I dress the way I feel is right, I’ve never gotten sick from being cold. I always know how I need to dress for the weather. You don’t need to fear that a child will freeze to death if they choose their own clothes. I would always end up sweating when I wore what my mom picked out. She feels temperature differently.
