Alexander N. (SEI) about Food

A child shouldn't be forced to eat. I experienced that as very painful, and later developed a painful attachment to food, an addiction — a junkie-like dependence on the taste of food. How do people become addicts? First they’re injected with drugs by force, and then they can’t live without it. It’s the same with food. As a child, I often felt fine without eating. Two apples a day were more than enough. I got a lot of energy from the taste of an apple. I’d munch on a walnut — and that was enough. But if you’re addicted to the pleasure of taste — then it’s a kilogram at a time, stuffing yourself, gaining weight.
