Nadezhda S. (2) (ILE) about love of reading
I love digging up new information. I’m interested in so many things. I want everything — my whole world fills up with things I find fascinating. Unfortunately, I don’t always have enough time, because I see: this is interesting, and this, and this, and this… And I want it all! I start working on one thing, and along the way I stumble upon so many other interesting things — and suddenly I’m already buried in something else. You go online looking for one thing, and end up drifting so far away from it. You keep saving, saving — your flash drive is already full — and still you’ve grabbed tons of interesting stuff along the way.
I “dig” as long as the topic interests me, and as soon as it stops being interesting — that’s it, I’m done. If something fascinates me, I fill up with it entirely — it becomes my “fixed idea.” I don’t exist here anymore, but somewhere else — in the idea, in the subject. If something is on my mind, I forget everything else: I sit and think, and suddenly something random pops into my head — something so fascinating it’s almost overwhelming! And I start thinking about that. I think and think and think. How does this work? And this? And this? Oh! Amazing! I can sit there hungry... I start reading a book — put it aside, pick up another one — because it’s interesting! I scold myself if I miss something fascinating. I know that if I pass something by and don’t grab it right now, I’ll forget about it. I grab the next thing too, because I’m afraid to miss that as well — I spread myself too thin.
I have so many interests. I take in so much information during the day that in the evening, riding the bus, I sit down, close my eyes — and the main thing is not to think, not to think… I try to relax, to empty my mind, because otherwise I could go crazy. I’m like an addict. I already have tons of information, but I can’t walk past something new. I know my brain will swell, but I’ll sort it out later — dig through it, think it through. I buy a lot of books and download a lot from the Internet.
Online I’ve subscribed to so many things: scientific news, super-interesting inventions, astronomy, discoveries of ancient civilizations, nanotechnology. All of it comes to my email — it’s awesome!
My interests can change instantly — easily, easily!
