Irina V. (2) (EIE) - Good memory for emotional states

When I remember some event, the mood I had at that moment comes back very clearly. For example, we were a bit tipsy, vacationing at a tourist base. I was lying on the floor in the disco hall; the lights were off, colored lights were on, the music was blasting, and there was no one else in the hall. Sergey was sitting at the bar. The whole disco was mine — I lay there feeling sad, then falling into an abyss, then feeling very good… I still remember how my mood kept changing… I remember it very well.

I remember in school we were assigned to learn a poem about nature. I was little, maybe seven, and I told my mom: “Mom, I need a poem.” And she gave me one my father had written for her. I memorized it and recited it in school, and the teacher said, “Such a beautiful poem, who wrote it?” I said, “My dad!” — and burst into tears, because my parents were already divorced, and it felt so bitter inside… And now it feels the same… here comes the lump in my throat and the tears. A sad, heavy, oppressive feeling.
